非谓语动词——过去分词作状语

一、知识点讲解

过去分词(Past Participle,简称"PP")作状语是高中英语语法的重要考点。过去分词具有 被动完成 的含义,在句中可作时间、原因、条件、让步、方式和伴随状语。

1. 基本形式与含义

形式 含义 例句

2. 作各种状语的用法

① 时间状语

相当于一个时间状语从句,常可加连词 when, while, once, until 等明确时间关系。

  • Seen from the top of the mountain, the city looks like a garden. = When it is seen from the top of the mountain, ...
  • Once published, the novel became a best-seller. = Once it was published, ...

② 原因状语

相当于 because / since / as 引导的原因状语从句。

  • Deeply moved by the story, the children began to cry. = Because they were deeply moved by the story, ...
  • Born into a poor family, he had to work at an early age. = Because he was born into a poor family, ...

③ 条件状语

相当于 if / unless 引导的条件状语从句。

  • Given more time, we could do it better. = If we were given more time, ...
  • Well watered, the plants will grow quickly. = If they are well watered, ...

④ 让步状语

相当于 although / even though 引导的让步状语从句。

  • Beaten by the opposite team, the players were not discouraged. = Although they were beaten by the opposite team, ...
  • Left alone at home, the boy didn't feel afraid. = Although he was left alone at home, ...

⑤ 方式/伴随状语

表示动作发生的方式或伴随情况,无相应连词。

  • The teacher entered the classroom, followed by a group of students.
  • He sat in the chair, lost in thought.

3. 与现在分词作状语的区别

当分词的逻辑主语与句子主语不一致时,保留自己的主语,形成"名词/代词 + 过去分词"结构。
